Introvert friendly digital marketing for lead generation (no social media required!)

In this post we talk about digital marketing for lead generation to grow your business the introvert way!

Before we get started, if you’re not familiar with lead generation marketing it is:

“Lead generation is the process of building interest in a product or service and then turning that interest into a sale. Lead gen makes the sales cycle more efficient because it focuses on the strongest and most valuable prospects. The result is greater success in new customer acquisition and conversion rates.”

Believe it or not, you do not need to become an influencer to have a successful online business!

If you consider yourself an introvert, or you simply don’t enjoy dancing to ever-changing trends, I have some good news for you. I am going to show you how to generate leads using your own superpower! Working behind the scenes instead of infront of a camera gives you a unique advantage. You have the space to strategize, write comfortably from your couch on your own time and consistently show up without the pressures of entertaining people with your personal life!

Most service providers don’t want to become influencers. Think about it, we have to provide our services aka do our work and then show up daily on stories!? Social media is a full-time job on its own! And most of us don’t have a team helping us create content. So even if you’re not an introvert but you just don’t have the time or energy to do social media marketing then these lead generation strategies are for you as well!

Let’s reframe the way we see lead generation in digital marketing

We can all agree that, as business owners, we need to continuously feed our funnel of leads. We constantly need to get infront of new potential clients and bring them into our world. There’s an opportunity to upsell or sell new services to existing clients but in order to grow and scale your business, you always need to be attracting new leads.

When we think about attracting leads in the online space, social media will almost always be the first strategy that comes to mind. Especially, if you’re not in the marketing space! And I don’t blame you for that, we’re bombarded by social media. What I want to do is introduce you to a new way of thinking, a new way of growing your business online…

Why do I encourage this reframe in digital marketing lead generation

Instead of influencing, let’s start thinking about creating content that is valuable and helpful to your clients. Building long-lasting relationships and trust. Attracting qualified leads that not only need your services but want to work with you specifically!

Because you deserve to live your life in alignment with who you truly are. And since we are spending a whole lot of time on our business, that means you deserve to run your business in alignment with your personality.

For so many years we were encouraged to “hustle”

We wore the hours we worked as a badge of honour. I don’t know about you, but I felt like if I wasn’t working, like all the time, then I wasn’t deserving of success. Trading hours for money is ingrained in us from a young age. We go to school Monday to Friday then we get a 9-5. We correlate the amount of money we make directly with the hours we work.

Hustle culture had become so glamourized! But the reality is, it just was not sustainable. And now we see people talking about living a soft life. Let me just say, I am sooo here for it! We should all be living a soft life that feels good to our nervous systems!

So let’s make a little promise to each other. Let’s stop believing we have to become someone we’re not to have a successful online business. Let’s decide to use our superpower of being an introvert to our advantage and *quietly* build some kick a** businesses that change peoples lives!

Let’s change our focus from content performance to content positioning

Instead of thinking about how a piece of content is going to perform (the likes, comments and shares). Let’s start thinking about the positioning of our content. Getting in front of the right people with the right content in the right places.

Having a piece of content perform well in the wrong place does not equal qualified leads or clients. You could have a post go viral on TikTok but the people who see it might not be your ideal clients. They might not even be interested in the services you are selling. A post can go “viral” for a number of reasons. Maybe it was because you used a trending audio or maybe someone with a large following shared it.

But positioning your content will help you get in front of your ideal clients. In front of the people who are actively searching for your services. Which equals, you got it, qualified leads.

Now to quietly make some power moves – How to generate leads without having to become an influencer!

Let’s break this up into a 4 part frame-work:

  1. Blogging for your long-term lead generation marketing strategy
  2. Leverage Pinterest to increase visibility to your blog
  3. Build your email list to nurture those leads
  4. Use your website as your silent sales consultant

Blogging for your long-term lead generation marketing strategy

Blog posts are a great way to create content that provides value to your clients. Each blog post should answer a specific search query a user makes on Google (or any other search engine). And when you create content that answers that query you are building trust with your reader. Not only is this building your authority and audience, it’s also helping boost your SEO.

If you want to learn more about SEO you can read my blog post: Digital Marketing for Introverts: A Guide to SEO, Blogging and Pinterest

The best part about using blogging as your lead gen strategy? One blog post can continue to perform for upwards of 2 years!! Like it can continue to drive traffic to your website for years to come! Talk about ROI on the time you are spending creating content.

So not only are you increasing your visibility overtime with your blog, you’re also building authority and your community.

Leverage Pinterest to increase visibility to your blog

Pinterest is similar to your blog because:

  1. Pinterest Pins continue to perform for months, possibly years!
  2. It’s a super introvert friendly marketing strategy!

You can show up consistently on Pinterest in the most cozy ways. You do not need to get on camera or talk to anyone. Just grab a coffee and your blanket then sit back and create some pin graphics and schedule them to publish on Pinterest.

Even better, those pins can continue to bring traffic to your blog for months or even years! It’s a great way to get even more eyes on your blog. The cool thing about Pinterest is that it aims to get people off of Pinterest and on to your website. How great is that!?

For each blog post you can create 10+ Pins that can link directly to your blog post. It’s a great way to grow your blog and increase your website traffic.

If you are blogging I feel that Pinterest is a non-negotiable, but that’s just me…

Build your email list to nurture those leads

Alright, so it’s all great and dandy when you start getting traffic to your blog. But what happens then…

You need to capture those leads on your email list! As mentioned earlier, the people who land on your blog are qualified leads. They literally searched for the thing you were talking about on that post. They are already interested in what you are doing/selling/providing. They might not be ready to purchase that day but they’re more likely to purchase someday than someone who has no interest in your services.

So as soon as they land on a blog post or your website, you should have a strategy to get them on your email list. The best way to do this is by trading a free offer for their email address. What is commonly referred to as a freebie or an opt-in. You give something of value to your reader and in return they give you their email address.

Once they are on your email list you can continue to nurture and provide value to them! And maybe someday they’ll become your client.

Use your website as your silent sales consultant

Your website should answer all of the questions your ideal client might have. It’s a place people can come to get a feel for your brand and learn about your services. I encourage you to use your website to sell your services. It’s such a powerful marketing tool, do not sleep on it!

Your website pages, aside from the blog posts, can also be optimized for SEO to attract leads. But regardless of that, your clients should be able to go to your website and book with you.

Make it so clear exactly what you offer and how they can work with you. Use an FAQ section to squash any worries they may have.

Once you’ve built that community with your blog and then through email marketing, your website is just closing the deal!

What does this 4 part lead generation digital marketing framework allow you to do?

By implementing the strategies I shared with you, you are building a powerful marketing system.

Instead of chasing clients you are attracting aligned quality leads. You are avoiding burnout from trying to show up daily on socials but instead creating content comfortably. You can also rest easy knowing you’re getting the greatest ROI on that content since blog posts perform long-term.

Let your blog grow your business quietly in the background while you focus your energy on serving your clients.
