Let’s start off by answering some questions you may have:
What is an SEO optimized website?
An SEO optimized website is strategically designed based on data from keyword research and competitor analysis.
What is SEO?
SEO is Search Engine Optimization. This means adding strategic keywords to your website based on research on what your ideal clients are actively searching for through Search Engines. You take the exact keywords or phrases your potential clients are typing into the search bar and add them to your website copy. When you do this, it tells Google and other search engines that the content on that specific web page matches the search query. And when your content matches a search query then that web page appears in the SERP (search engine results page).
When you are adding SEO to your website, it’s not based on what you think people might be searching for. It’s based on data from keyword research.
What is keyword research?
Keyword research is the act of finding the exact words or phrases your clients are using when searching for content related to your business/services. This can be done using free tools like Google, Pinterest, Answer the Public, or Moz Keyword Explorer. If you want to learn how to do keyword research for your content I have a blog post that shares how to do this:
4 Ways To Do SEO Keyword Research
As an SEO Strategist for websites and blog content, I personally use a paid tool to do research for my clients. I use SERanking where I can research keywords based on information my client provides about their business. Another strategy I implement here is competitor analysis to see what their SEO strategy is and if there are any opportunities for us to implement into your website or blog marketing strategy.
Once I have all of this data we can start implementing your website marketing strategies.

How is blog marketing a sustainable marketing strategy
Blog marketing is a sustainable marketing strategy because you’re attracting warm leads and your blog will have a snowball effect, growing over time with minimal effort.
Attracting warm leads
When you strategically blog based on SEO keyword research you are creating content your clients are actively searching for! AKA you are attracting warm leads. These are people who are already interested in what you are talking about. They might not be ready to buy the moment they land on your website or blog but they’re interested!
You tell me, would you rather…
- Attract 10 people into your ecosystem who are actually interested in what you do
- Attract 100 people who happened to stumble upon your content but might not have any desire to invest.
If you’re running a business I can guarantee you’d rather have 10 warm leads than cold (miiight turn into) leads.
The blogging snowball effect
If you are writing your blog posts according to SEO research. Meaning you are consistently writing content that you know your audience is searching for. Then over time, as your blog grows, it will have a compounding effect.
Blogs and SEO optimized websites both take time to start attracting organic traffic. It can take anywhere from 6-12 months! But once that traffic starts pouring in it will continue to attract organic traffic for years to come!
Alright friend, now that we have gotten your questions answered we can focus on the two website marketing strategies I promised to discuss in this post!
An SEO optimized website
I cannot express how valuable it is for you to have an SEO optimized website to sustainably market your business.
It’s imperative to keep SEO in mind when you are coming up with your website content; from what pages to create to the copy you’re writing.
When deciding what pages you want on your website be sure to ask yourself:
- What content information do I need on my website?
- What questions does my ideal client need answered?
- What information will my clients be looking for?
- How can I make it really easy for my clients to work with me?
When you think about these questions it can help you determine which pages you need on your website. For example, as a Photographer you would need the following pages:
- Home – everyone needs a homepage!
- About – so your clients can connect with you as photography is a business where you are connecting with your clients on a deeper level.
- Portfolio – to showcase your work and build trust
- Investments – share all of the details about how to work with you and what it would cost.
- Contact/Inquiry – so your clients can easily book with you
When you have an idea of what pages you will have on your website you can start spotting what keywords from your research you should use on which page. It’s extremely important to target specific keywords for each page. You don’t want to be targeting the same keywords on multiple pages.
Determine which keywords match the content on each page.
The cool thing about keyword research is that it might show you where there’s opportunity that you may not have thought of. Maybe there are certain keywords that you might want to create a whole separate page for. So when creating an SEO optimized website it’s important to know what pages you want on your website. But it’s also important to leave room to add pages that you may not have thought of!
Use your keywords and strategically implement them onto each page of your website! I won’t be diving into how to optimize your website pages in this post. But if you are interested in learning more about implementing SEO on your website, leave a comment! I can always write a blog post if you’re interested!
Let it be!
Once your website is optimized for SEO you can set up your Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These are both free tools to analyze your website traffic. I will say, it can be addicting wanting to view your data like every day or every week when you optimize your website. But as I mentioned before, it can take up to a year to start attracting traffic organically to your website. So don’t just make changes because you think it’s not working. Give it the time and space it needs to build trust with Search Engines and start ranking.
That being said, do look at your analytics! It’s important to track your date. I mean, if you optimized your website and there’s zero traction between 6-12 months then yeah it might not be working. You should start seeing a slight increase in traffic to your website within 6 months! It’s just to see a significant increase; it can take even longer.
An SEO focused blogging marketing strategy
We already touched on the fact that each website page should focus on a specific cluster of keywords. You shouldn’t try to target one page for different types of keywords, they should all be related. It’s the same thing for your blog posts! Each post should answer a specific search query. Which is kind of nice because that means you can go deep with one topic and save the rest of the topics for more blog post ideas!
Here are some successful blogging tips
- Write content for humans but keep Search Engines and AI Search in mind
- Each blog post should target a specific search query
- Use one target keyword in your blog post title and use related keywords throughout your post
- Be sure your post is relevant and fully answers the search query
- Link related blog posts to keep users engaged
- Add freebies to capture your leads onto your email list
- Have a sidebar that briefly shares: who you are, what you do and promotes lead magnets.
- And most importantly: Always optimize your blog posts for SEO!
These blogger marketing strategies are all so valuable. But one thing that will really change the game for you will be to create content based on your keyword research! Honestly, there’s nothing worse than taking the time to write a blog post that no one will ever find.
I spent two years creating blog posts based on what I thought my ideal clients were interested in. Yes, some of the posts did well. But I was seriously throwing spaghetti at the wall. And it wasn’t just because I was hoping something would stick. It was because I literally didn’t know any different. I thought I was doing research by kind of putting some time into seeing what people search on Google. However, it wasn’t a real blog marketing strategy.
Writing content based on SEO keyword research
When I finally invested in learning SEO and started implementing SEO strategy into my blog posts. It made A HUGE difference! In my post rankings but also in my confidence! I knew that the content I was creating was being searched for. I wasn’t guessing anymore and that made sitting down and writing twice a week so much easier!! Because I learned that even if it takes time my blog posts will increase organic traffic to my post because people are searching for this content!
If you’re blogging please, please use an SEO strategy. Don’t waste your time writing stuff no one is searching for!
