Content Marketing as a Projector in Human Design

I have become quite fascinated with Human Design. I learned my energy type is a Projector and it’s actually so accurate!

Human Design is something I was hearing more and more about either on podcasts or on social media. One day I decided to actually listen to an interview on Jenna Kutchers YouTube channel. She interviewed a Jenna Zoe who is a Human Design Expert.

Here’s a link if you want to have a listen!

When I listened to this interview I didn’t know what my Energy type was but I was very intrigued. I discovered I am a Projector in Human Design and dove deep down the rabbit hole. So much started to make sense when I looked back at decisions I’ve made. Even analyzing things that just hadn’t worked out, especially in my business.

Here’s the video!

The self doubt created by comparison

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has looked at others to learn how to show up online. I would see other business owners on social media and think I need to do what they’re doing. I thought if it worked for them it should work for me too. As much as I tried to show up consistently on socials it just wouldn’t work out for me. Or I would feel so drained trying to keep up that I would start to feel bitter. Which makes sense since bitterness is my not-self!

Then you throw in the common theme of online business coaches in 2023. “Make $10k a month by showing up on social media everyday!”. I use 2023 as a reference because it was my first full year in business. I’m not going to lie, this just felt so far out of alignment and also very discouraging. Everywhere you looked on Instagram, even if you weren’t trying to look for it, it was right in your face. “I made $25k in the first two weeks of launching my business!”.

My biggest aha moment when I learned my Energy type was that my feelings were validated. I didn’t have to show up all the time like a lot of business owners who showed up on social media consistently. It’s just not my energy type. It felt like a permission slip. And I want this to be a permission slip to you if you are also a Projector in Human Design. You do not have to show up like everyone else, you just need to show up as your true authentic self.

Being true to yourself as a Projector in Human Design

Remember, Projectors only make up approximately 20% of the population so we are mostly surrounded with Manifestors, Generators or Manifesting Generators. So if you’re anything like me, throughout life you have compared yourself and your energy levels to everyone around you and just haven’t been able to keep up. Now I feel like I don’t have to keep up and that feeling is so extremely freeing.

I always knew how I wanted to market my online business, which is what I’m going to share with you today. But I always felt like it wasn’t right because it wasn’t what everyone else was doing. And everyone else was showing up on Instagram and Tiktok consistently and if I wasn’t putting as much energy in as them then I wasn’t working as hard. Have you ever felt that way?

“While Generators are designed to respond and Manifestors to initiate, Projectors are here to wait for invitations and recognition. This is not about passivity but about aligning themselves with the correct opportunities and people who value their insights and guidance.”

This little paragraph here changed everything for me and I hope it does for you my fellow Projector. You are gifted, you have a business where you are sharing with the world something of true value. If you think about aligning yourself with the right people and intentionally putting yourself in front of your people without burning yourself out, what would that look like for you?

“In terms of energy, Projectors are not designed for long-term, consistent work. They need plenty of rest and downtime, and they thrive when they can work in short bursts and have ample time to recharge.”

A Human Design

Because of this you need to consider two things:

  1. What do you enjoy doing? Something that does not feel like it drains all of your energy.
  2. How can you get the most bang for your buck (energetically speaking).

Content Marketing as a Projector in Human Design

Content marketing is creating valuable content for your ideal clients. You want to create content that has a long shelf life. If the best way we work as Projectors is in short bursts and require down time to recharge then whatever we put our time and energy towards better have the highest ROI (return on investment).

I’m not saying ditch social media, hey, I’m still on Instagram with a sad little Tiktok account on the side. But now that I can rest easy knowing that my Energy type supports creating long lasting content, so I can prioritize my downtime, I am focusing my marketing efforts on SEO.

If you are unfamiliar with SEO, “SEO stands for search engine optimization. The goal of SEO is to expand a company’s visibility in organic search results. As a result, these efforts drive more visitors to the company’s website, increasing their chances for more conversions which leads to more customers and more revenue.”

Why your website is so valuable

Your website is going to be the most important place your ideal customer can go to learn more about you. It is your online home and it’s even more important if you have an online business. You need a homebase for your clients to come and hang out. And more importantly this needs to be a place that you own. Social media is rented real estate.

Your website needs to be Search Engine Optimized so that your ideal clients can actually find your website. What’s the point in building a beautiful home if no one has the address to actually come over?

You know you need a website for your business but you have no idea where to start?

Don’t worry, I got you!

Your first step as a Projector is to set up a few things that will give you lasting results.

And those things are:

  1. A brand that truly captures the essence of your business
  2. Have copy (the words on your website) that speak directly to your ideal customer
  3. Create a website that is strategically and authentically designed to pull your visitors in. Your aligned clients should truly feel the soul of your business and then you can guide them to take action.
  4. Set up your website with SEO so that your people can actually find you.

Once you have this hub set up for your business you can start creating content.

Remember, as a Projector our strategy is to wait for the invitation.

“Waiting for the invitation is about aligning themselves with the right opportunities and people who value and recognize their unique gifts. This is not about being passive or inactive, but about being discerning and patient. When Projectors align with this strategy, they can avoid resistance, burnout, and bitterness – the not-self theme of the Projector.”

My advice to you is to create content that directs your aligned clients to your website so they can continue to connect with you and learn more about your business. This is when they truly enter your world. You can of course do this through social media but the reason I am going to list the following platforms is because content dies fast on social media. And remember, our Energy type requires a lot of rest. We are not the people who show up on Instagram stories throughout the day. We need our content to continue working for us so we can hop off that hamster wheel and live as our authentic selves.

Content Marketing Strategies for Projectors:

  1. Blogging
  2. YouTube
  3. Pinterest
  4. Podcast
  5. Email Newsletter

All of these content marketing strategies have a long lasting shelf life. Meaning you can create it once and it will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Blogging

Blogging is great because you are increasing visibility to your website. The more blogs you have equals the more pages that have the opportunity to rank in search results. And the best part about blogging for us Projectors is that you can choose how often you want to post. You can choose to post once a week or every two weeks or once a month. Whatever you decide, just make sure you stay consistent with it. You’re trying to build trust with search engines and posting and ghosting isn’t a great look! And not only is blogging going to free up more time so you can re-energize, it’s a really great marketing strategy.

“Companies with blogs produce an average of 67% more leads monthly than companies that don’t blog.”

YouTube

YouTube is great because you can embed your YouTube videos directly on your website. You can write a blog post on your website and then make a video talking about the exact same content and post it on YouTube. You are technically creating two separate pieces of content but using the same information.

“Not only is your audience on YouTube, but as the internet’s second largest search engine, YouTube can help improve your SEO and overall brand presence. YouTube allows marketers to present unique content that’s easy for viewers to consume and share.”

Pinterest

You can take one single blog post and turn it into multiple pins! Again, Pinterest is going to drive traffic back to your website.

The great thing about Pinterest is that its purpose is to get people off of Pinterest and onto your website. Whereas when you think of social media or most other platforms, they want to keep you on that platform for as long as possible.

“According to a recent Pinterest blog post, luxury shopping is alive and well on the platform. A third of luxury shoppers on Pinterest report having an annual income of over $100,000. They are also 35% more likely to make a six-figure income than luxury shoppers on other platforms. What’s more, these shoppers spend 87% more on luxury goods than shoppers on other platforms and are 27% more likely to buy premium products.”

Hootsuite

Pinterest users are primed to purchase and from these stats, it looks like they have the money to buy what you are selling!

Podcast

“Podcast marketing is a strategy that implies promoting and selling your product or service through audio content. It helps reach new audiences, tell the brand’s story, build authority, and encourage word-of-mouth marketing.”

Send Pulse

Podcasts are a great way to build trust and awareness around your brand and business! And again, you can post your show notes as blog posts which will again help drive traffic to your website.

Email Newsletter

Having an email newsletter is a great idea because you are able to show up in front of the people who really want to hear from you. If someone gives you their email address, usually in turn for a freebie or opt-in, it’s a really big deal. This shows that they trust you and are giving you the go ahead to show up in their inbox.

You want to make your life easy and repurpose your content. So again, you can just repurpose your blog posts, podcast, YouTube etc. and put it into an email newsletter. Remember, not everyone is going to be visiting any of these platforms regularly to see when you have posted a new piece of content. Not because they don’t want to but because you know, life. But your email newsletter can peak their interest when you share content they are interested in. It helps keep you front of mind.

Conclusion

All of these strategies take time to start gaining traction. I mean months, anywhere from 6-12 months. But once that traffic starts to come in, each piece of content you created will perform for you for months to come. Depending on which strategy you’re doing it may even perform for years to come. This is where it truly does feel so aligned with our energy type as Projectors in Human Design. You are taking your time to provide so much value and getting in front of your aligned customers. It might take quite some time to gain traction but when you do start to get that regular traffic to your website from these strategies, it’s going to be your exact ideal clients coming to visit.

I’m not saying you need to, or even should be, marketing on all of these platforms. But these are great marketing strategies to get in front of aligned customers so when they are ready they will reach out to you. This will be the invitation you need to work with them. You’re not going out there and consistently hard selling. You are getting in front of the right people and providing value and when they are ready they will purchase from you!

Choose one of these marketing strategies and get really good at it. You can add on another once you feel like it’s not too much work because you have figured it out. But when you create content like this it continues to work for you for longer than a quick post on Instagram. It gives you space in your life to rest, rejuvenate and do everything else that brings you joy.
