Why Blogging Is Not Dead – It’s Just Smarter Now!

TL;DR (Overview)

Blogging isn’t dead but it is evolving! The same as ever, the difference between blogs that get seen and blogs that disappear into the void is strategy! It’s just that the strategy is changing as the landscape changes. We now have AI Search options and because of this we need to modify our strategies. In this post, I’ll show you what’s changed about blogging for business, how to make your blog AI-friendly (without sounding like AI yourself!), and how to write posts that feel personal and perform well in Google and AI Search Tools.

Blogging isn’t dead, but the “old way” is evolving

The foundations of Blogging are still going to apply in the age of AI. There’s always been an emphasis on creating valuable, relevant content that’s actually helpful to your readers. A few years ago Google actually added the Helpful Content Update:

“The helpful content update is a significant change to Google’s algorithm that rewards high-quality, user-focused content in search results and demotes low-quality pages created primarily to rank well in search engines.” Source: Semrush

Using core SEO practices, blogging is still one of the most sustainable ways to grow your business, especially if you’re an introvert or someone who doesn’t want to spend all day showing up on social media. It’s quiet marketing that keeps working even when you’re offline.

But there is an addition to the foundations of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Now we have to also create to optimize for AEO (Answer Engine Optimization).

The big difference with creating content for AI Search Tools now? People are searching differently now. Before we would type into Google exactly what we were looking for. Now, we have conversations with AI Search Tools. Which means we have to write blog posts in a way that sounds more conversational.

Search (and AI tools) reward posts that are:

  • Helpful (they clearly answer the reader’s question)
  • Human (they sound like you, not a robot)
  • Conversational (written as if you’re speaking to your clients)
  • Precise (short snippets, bullet points, numbered lists that answer a question)

So the truth is, blogging isn’t dead, it’s just smarter now.

What smarter blogging looks like in 2025

If I could summarize modern blogging in one line:
👉 It’s not about writing more, it’s about writing with purpose.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

a) Start with search intent (not just keywords)

Instead of asking “What keyword should I rank for?”, ask “What question is my ideal client typing into Google or AI search right now?”

This small shift helps you create content that solves real problems, not just just writing for keywords.

Start thinking about the content you are writing as a conversation. If you’re talking to your ideal client, what would they ask you?

For example, my website design clients might ask:

How can I launch my website in one day? Vs. website in a day

You can see the difference between the conversational/question based search vs the SEO keyword search.

b) Write for humans, AI and SEO

AI-driven search (like Google’s AI Overviews or ChatGPT-style engines) pulls direct, clear answers from your content. That means:

  • Use question-based headings (like “Is blogging still worth it in 2025?”)
  • Add short, clear answers right under your headings
  • Keep your tone conversational and helpful

You should always be writing for your readers first, no matter what! But within that post to your clients be sure AI Tools and Search Engines can easily understand what you mean too!

c) Add your personal stories + quiet authority

This is the cozy side of blogging, the part that can’t be replicated by AI. And by my opinion, the part that makes blogging enjoyable and builds a real connection with your readers.

Whether you’re a coach, a wellness entrepreneur, or a designer, your experiences are what give your content soul.

For example, one of my most visited Blog posts is Content Marketing as a Projector in Human Design. I wrote this post when I learned that I’m a Projector and how it helped me with my mindset in business. I didn’t do any real keyword research or anything like that, I just wrote it from my heart to other Projectors. And people really connect with it because it’s written for them

How to blog smarter (step-by-step)

Here’s how to make your blog work for you – sustainably, strategically, and soulfully.

Step 1: Choose 3 to 4 content pillars

This helps you write for different topics, still within your business, every week. So you don’t feel stuck or like you’re repeating yourself. If you have 4 different content pillars then you can write for one each week!

For example, my content pillars are:

  1. Business
  2. Showit
  3. Introvert Personality
  4. Personal

Step 2: Structure for humans and AI

  • Start with a TL;DR or “what they’ll learn” overview
  • Use question-based subheadings throughout
  • End with a recap or action steps

This format makes your post skimmable and easy for AI to summarize accurately.

You can literally go through this very post and see this strategy. I use a TL;DR at the beginning and end of the post. And then numbered lists, bullet points, FAQ, etc. within the post.

Step 3: Add internal + external links

This is going back to the foundations of SEO. Internal and external linking has always been important to add into your blog!

Here are some examples of how you can use internal and external linking:

  • Internal: link to 2-3 of your own posts or offers
  • External: link to trustworthy, relevant sources (outside of your own website)

Step 4: Personalize for connection

Include examples or phrases your ideal clients and readers can relate to. Remember, it’s important to provide your unique perspective and of course you want to connect with your readers. Write in your brand voice, in a way that you your client feels like you’re talking directly to them!

Step 5: Repurpose intentionally

Every blog you publish can become:

  • 1–2 Instagram carousels
  • A short video for Pinterest or Reels
  • The topic for your email newsletter

I highly recommend this because you’ve already taken the time to create a great piece of long-form content. You should now re-purpose it to:

  1. Get more bang for your work
  2. Drive more traffic back to your blog

When you share your repurposed content you can always share that they can learn/read more on your blog. This is going to help you increase organic traffic to your Blog, and isn’t that the goal!

FAQs About Modern Blogging

Q1: Is blogging still worth it in 2025?

Absolutely. Blogging for business continues to build authority, SEO traction, and long-term visibility. Especially for service-based businesses that value sustainability over hustle.

Q2: Do I need to optimize my posts for AI search?

Yes, but not in a robotic way. Just make sure your posts clearly answer common questions, use structured headings, and stay focused on the reader’s intent.

Q3: How often should I blog now?

Pick a schedule you can stay consistent with. If you can regularly post weekly, do that. If you can only post once a month, then do that!

Q4: How long should each blog post be?

Write until you’ve answered the question fully. For most business topics, that’s between 1,200–2,000 words.

Q5: How do I make time for blogging?

Batch your ideas. Use AI blog writing prompts to make writing faster and more focused. You can download the exact AI prompts I use for FREE here: Plug and Play AI Blog Writing Prompts That Took My Impressions From 3k to 50k (in under 6 months)
