Why You Need A Website For Your Business

Have you ever thought…

  • “a website would be a nice to have” or

  • “having a website is just a vanity metric” or

  • “I don’t need a website I sell on Instagram”

These are things I have heard not one, not two, but many online business owners say! And it really does hurt my heart!

Not because I take it personally, but because not having a website is doing a disservice to your business!

Yes, there’s social media, yes, you can sell on it. But do you own it?

What would you do if you built up a following of 1000 people, 20,000 or what the heck a million people. And then one day, they were just gone. Just like that…

What would you do?

I really hope that never happens to you, to me or even our worst enemies!

However, it is a real possibility.

When you have a website for your business, you own it! It’s yours! You can publish it and have it out in the wild or you can disable it and have it sitting quietly on your account. Whatever you choose to do with it, it’s your decision.

And that’s the kind of power I want you to have!

Not only do you own your website, you can make it work for you! While you’re sleeping, drinkin’ some wine on a night out, tanning by the beach, you get the point!

Here are 5 reasons you need a website for your business!

1. To provide information to your community!

Chances are if someone asks you a question about your business, they’re not the only ones wanting to know the answers.

Provide all the information your potential clients would need in order to book with you or buy from you.

Give them all the details about your services and your offers. Exactly how they can work with you! Anything they might be curious about – add that info to your site.

You want to reduce any hesitations someone might have of working with you by visiting your website.

Make them feel confident in what you have to offer them and how you can help solve their pain points!

2. Allows your ideal clients to connect with you without them feeling like they have to commit.

Have you ever wanted more information about someone’s services but you hesitate to reach out to them because you don’t want them to “think you’re ready to invest”.

I don’t know about you but I have definitely felt that way before.

So if you and I have both experienced that, chances are our clients have as well. So allow potential clients to have a space where they can connect with you without the feeling of commitment.

They can visit your website as much or as little as they want to. And when they are ready they can invest but the pressure is taken off!

I’m not going to lie, if I don’t have the option to visit someone’s website and I don’t feel comfortable reaching out – I’m probably done with that exchange right there.

And that’s sad! Because they might be the exact person selling the exact thing that I need in that moment.

That could be your client missing out on your services and we don’t want that!

3. Convenience

How many times have you wanted to just make your dinner reservations online?

I mean, who wants to call the restaurant and wait for them to answer, then be put on hold, and then have to talk to someone!

Okay, maybe that’s a little extreme but am I wrong?

If we are talking about booking an appointment online, here are some fascinating statistics!

40% of appointments are booked after business hours.

67% of patients prefer online booking.

Businesses gain an average revenue increase of 27% when using online booking systems.

These statistics speak for themselves!

4. Build trust and a community

You are showcasing everything your business is on your website. It is the online home for your business.

When we have a physical location, like a brick and mortar, people can visit and experience the business. They can see what the business has to offer and experience the brand.

Your website is going to do that for your clients too. Your brand is communicated through your site and your images are going to connect your clients to you.

You are sharing all of your information and quality posts that are going to engage your clients and encourage them to come back and learn more from you.

Sharing social proof through testimonials and images is also a huge plus! And if your work has been featured then that can be highlighted as well.

Basically, your website is a one stop shop for your ideal clients to visit, learn about and emerse themselves in your business.

5. Let’s be real, we need to keep up with the times!

This is not the early 2000’s anymore, and my god how I wish it was! I mean they just don’t make music like that anymore!

But aside from that, gone are the days that websites were only for large corporations who were able to invest 10’s of thousands of dollars into them.

Not to mention, they were unable to make any updates or changes on their own and had to hire out every time they wanted to change a small thing!

Websites are now accessible to every business owner. And as consumers we often Google a business before purchasing from them!

Hell, we Google men before dating them!

So why wouldn’t your ideal client want to look you up before investing money in you?

And with our short attention spans these days we want easy and fast access to whatever it is we are looking for.

A social media feed is great but it has to lead somewhere your potential clients can get more information. This magical place is your website!
